Step Back in Time at the Colchester Roman and Medieval Festival

The Colchester Roman and Medieval Festival returns to Castle Park on 6th and 7th June 2026 for a weekend packed with history, entertainment, and family fun.

Visitors can enjoy live battle re-enactments, Roman and medieval camps, archery, axe throwing, live music, street food, market stalls, and plenty of activities for children. Set in the heart of Britain’s first Roman city, the festival is one of Colchester’s biggest summer events and a great day out for all ages.

The event takes place at Lower Castle Park, just a short walk from the city centre. Adult tickets are £10, with free entry for under-16s.

Taste Your Way Around the Colchester Food and Drink Festival

The Colchester Food and Drink Festival returns to Castle Park this summer, bringing together some of the region’s best street food, local produce, sweet treats, and refreshing drinks.

Visitors can enjoy live cooking demonstrations, artisan market stalls, international flavours, live music, and family-friendly entertainment throughout the weekend. From gourmet burgers and wood-fired pizza to cakes, cocktails, and locally made products, there’s something for every taste.

Join the Race for Life in Colchester

Race for Life returns to Colchester this summer with a 5k event at Lower Castle Park, helping to raise money for life-saving cancer research.

The 5k route is an achievable challenge for all fitness levels, whether you choose to walk, jog, or run. At just over three miles, most people complete the course in around an hour, with participants encouraged to go at their own pace.

The event takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Castle Park in the heart of Colchester, creating a supportive and inspiring atmosphere for everyone taking part.

Experience Ibiza Classics in Colchester

The Ibiza Orchestra Experience returns to Colchester for one final encore, bringing the biggest dance anthems from the White Isle to life with an incredible 26-piece orchestra.

The event promises an unforgettable night featuring special guest performers, a silent disco, glitter artists, lasers, pyrotechnics, and fire breathers. New for 2026, visitors can also enjoy a dedicated 90s Dance Tent packed with classic club hits.

Combining live orchestral music with the atmosphere of Ibiza nightlife, this is set to be one of Colchester’s biggest summer party events.

Enjoy the Sounds of Scotland at Pipes in the Park

Pipes in the Park returns to Lower Castle Park on Sunday 14 June, bringing the sights and sounds of Scotland to the heart of Colchester.

Around 200 pipers and drummers from across the country will take part in what is known as the biggest piping festival in Southern England. Visitors can enjoy live performances from bands travelling from Essex, Suffolk, Cambridge, Plymouth, Leicester and beyond, alongside traditional Highland dancing displays from local young performers.

There will also be food stalls, a bar, family entertainment, inflatables, bungee trampolines, and plenty of activities for children. Best of all, entry to the event is completely free, making it a great family day out this summer.

Get Ready for the Sausage and Cider Festival

The Sausage and Cider Festival returns to Colchester on Saturday 11th July 2026 for a full day of live music, street food, and festival fun.

Headlining this year’s event is Chris Moyles with a Festival Anthems DJ set, alongside the final ever Barrioke UK Tour, Big John from BOSH!, and a special Funhouse Party DJ set from Pat Sharp.

Festival goers can also enjoy tribute performances celebrating bands including Queen, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, and UB40.

Alongside the music, visitors can expect over 30 ciders, 20 sausage varieties, a silent disco, axe throwing, a huge festival market, and family entertainment including a children’s tent. Tickets are on sale now.

Celebrate Community at the Colchester Carnival

The Colchester Carnival returns this summer with a vibrant parade, live entertainment, and a funfair celebrating the city’s diverse communities and cultures.

The parade begins at 12pm from Sir Isaac’s Walk and Eld Lane, featuring colourful floats, vintage cars, eCargo bikes, and even a steam engine as it makes its way through the city towards Lower Castle Park.

Visitors can enjoy live music, dance performances, art displays, family activities, and food vendors serving flavours from around the world. The funfair runs from 2:30pm to 7pm in Castle Park, with children’s rides, entertainment, and plenty of attractions for all ages.

The event is all about bringing communities together, celebrating culture, creativity, and the diversity that makes Colchester unique.

Bring the Country Vibes to Colchester at Summer in Nashville

Summer in Nashville returns to Colchester with a full day of country music, entertainment, and Southern-style festival fun.

The event features a huge line-up including One Night in Nashville with a brand-new set list, alongside tribute performances celebrating stars such as Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and Dolly Parton.

Visitors can also enjoy live performances from local artists, Countryoke, line dancing, American BBQ and street food, axe throwing, and even a rodeo bull. Plus, the first festivalgoers through the gates can grab one of 500 free cowboy hats.

With live country music and a festival atmosphere inspired by Nashville, it promises to be one of Colchester’s biggest summer party events.

Enjoy a Family Day Out at Sundays on the Square

The very first Sundays on the Square is coming to St Nicholas Square on Sunday 14th June 2026, bringing a fun-filled day of shopping, entertainment, and family activities to the city centre.

Running from 10am to 4pm, the free event will feature local stalls, live music, delicious food and drinks, and plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy.

With a relaxed atmosphere and entertainment throughout the day, Sundays on the Square promises to be a great new addition to Colchester’s summer events calendar.

Taste of the Caribbean Comes to Colchester

Get ready for a vibrant food and drink celebration as Taste of the Caribbean returns to Colchester, bringing the colours, flavours, and rhythms of the islands to the heart of the city.

Visitors can explore a lively street food market serving up Caribbean favourites such as jerk chicken, curry goat, conch fritters, and roti, alongside refreshing tropical drinks.

The festival will also feature live reggae and soca music, family-friendly activities including face painting and funfair rides, plus interactive cooking workshops where you can learn how to create authentic Caribbean dishes.
