New openings & updates in the city centre

Escape Hunt Colchester

Chopstix Noodle Bar

Fast, fresh and full of flavour, Chopstix brings a quick and easy food option right into the heart of the city.  (Culver Street West)

Expect generous portions of wok-tossed noodles, rice boxes and popular dishes like Chicken Katsu and Salt & Pepper Chicken - all served up quickly, without compromising on taste.

Whether you’re grabbing lunch on the go, meeting friends or stopping by after shopping, it’s an easy, reliable choice that fits around your day.

No Name Bar

If you’re looking for atmosphere, No Name Bar delivers. Located on Long Wyre Street, it’s quickly becoming a go-to for live sport, drinks and socialising.

With big screens, a lively crowd and a strong selection behind the bar, it’s the kind of place you head to when there’s a match you don’t want to miss.

With the FA Cup Final around the corner, it’s perfectly timed to settle in, grab a drink and enjoy the game in a great setting.

Poppina

Back for summer and bringing the energy with it.

Poppina returns to Lion Walk Courtyard with its signature mix of authentic Greek food, refreshing cocktails and live music, creating a relaxed, sociable atmosphere right in the city centre.

With outdoor seating and a vibrant alfresco feel, it’s an ideal spot for unwinding in the evening, catching up with friends or making the most of longer, warmer days.

Roots & Grooves

Now under new ownership, Roots & Grooves continues to offer something a little different.

Tucked away in St Nicholas Passage, it blends great coffee, vinyl records and house plants into one unique space. It’s somewhere you can take your time - whether you’re browsing for music, picking up a plant or just enjoying a slower moment in the day.

A great example of the independent character that makes Colchester’s city centre so varied.

REFORMD Pilates

A fresh addition to Colchester’s growing wellness scene, REFORMD Pilates has opened in Lion Walk.

The studio brings a modern, welcoming space focused on movement, strength and balance, catering to all levels - whether you’re just starting out or looking to build on your routine.

With its grand opening hours running from 11am - 3pm, it’s a great opportunity to step inside, explore the space and see what it has to offer.

La Corina Boutique

For those looking to refresh their wardrobe, La Corina Boutique offers a curated collection with individuality at its core.

Located in Lion Walk, the store focuses on standout pieces that combine style with personality, giving shoppers something a little different from the high street norm.

It’s the kind of place you discover something unexpected - whether you’re shopping for an occasion or just browsing for inspiration.

Cozy Nails & Spa

A new go-to for self-care has arrived on Head Street.

Cozy Nails & Spa offers a full range of treatments, from quick touch-ups to more indulgent appointments, all within a calm and welcoming setting.

Whether you’re fitting in a treatment during a busy day or planning a bit of downtime, it’s a convenient addition to the city centre’s growing lifestyle offering.

Juliasaurus at Hollytrees Museum

Looking for something a bit out of the ordinary?

A 6-metre-long dinosaur skeleton, known as Juliasaurus, has arrived at Hollytrees Museum as part of the Discover: Museum Wonders exhibition.

At around 150 million years old, it marks the first time a real dinosaur skeleton has been displayed in Colchester - making it a must-see for families, visitors and anyone curious about something a little different.

It’s a great reminder that the city centre isn’t just about shopping and dining - there’s always something new to discover.

With so many new spots and updates across the city, it’s easy to turn a visit into a full day out - from coffee and shopping to great food, drinks and something in between. Everything’s within walking distance, so you can experience more in one trip.
