This Novem­ber marks the high­ly-antic­i­pat­ed open­ing of Vic­to­ria Yum in Colch­ester Town centre.

In Colch­ester start­ed as an idea, a dream and a goal for the town cen­tre. Today, Thurs­day 1^st of August, it became a reality.

Have you ever tak­en the time to just stop and look around to see what is sur­round­ing you; it would prob­a­bly be a sur­prise. Being a Colch­ester res­i­dent I thought I knew every­thing it has to offer; how­ev­er I am start­ing to realise just how much more there is to this his­toric bustling town.

The Vis­it Colch­ester Infor­ma­tion Cen­tre is based in Hol­lytrees Muse­um in Colchester’s Cas­tle Park. It’s the first port of call for many vis­i­tors to the town and is well known for pro­vid­ing use­ful infor­ma­tion to tourists, but did you know we can also pro­vide a valu­able ser­vice to local res­i­dents and peo­ple who have lived in the town for many years?

I often sit and think about the mechan­ics of ​‘shop­ping local’ and it’s true mean­ing. To many, this is about shop­ping with your vil­lage butch­er or the restau­rants you have been going to for years.
