In 2016 we start­ed off on our ​“Great Jour­ney” with our now clas­sic core beer: Great Jour­ney Begins. This was our Pale Ale and it was received very well local­ly. It has remained one of our most steady and reg­u­lar­ly pro­duced beers. It’s an easy drinker and a great ses­sion Pale Ale.

From the con­fi­dence we gained devel­op­ing our first beer we start­ed to exper­i­ment with new styles, vari­eties and tech­niques and before we knew it we had a nice selec­tion to offer our patrons. 

This is when we realised we need­ed a lit­tle bit more space to spread out and con­tin­ue to grow our pas­sion for great tast­ing beer.

We were luck­i­ly able to set up shop in the old Jacks hard­ware store in the heart of Colch­ester city and now we’re flying.

Sig­nals is a cen­tre for cre­ative dig­i­tal learn­ing. We spe­cialise in film edu­ca­tion, dig­i­tal art and use media pro­duc­tion for social, lean­ing and cre­ative out­comes. We are a mul­ti award win­ning arts edu­ca­tion char­i­ty that pro­vides cours­es, work­shops and projects across the region.

SPACE’s first out-of-Lon­don stu­dios, SPACE Colch­ester was opened in Feb­ru­ary 2017 offer­ing 40+ cre­ative stu­dios, a work­space facil­i­ty and cul­tur­al venue at 37 Queen Street, Colch­ester, Essex. Set in Colch­ester Old Police Sta­tion, a list­ed build­ing in the heart of town, SPACE Colch­ester pro­vides the local com­mu­ni­ty with 12,000 sq ft of cre­ative space, co-work­ing desk space, work­shops and train­ing pro­grammes, and show­cas­ing facil­i­ties for the cre­ative and dig­i­tal indus­tries. Locat­ed close to First Site, The Minories and St Botolph’s Pri­o­ry with Colch­ester Town sta­tion near­by. In 2018, the build­ing won a RICS Award for Best Regen­er­a­tion Project in part­ner­ship with Colch­ester Bor­ough Coun­cil and Essex Coun­ty Council.

Sit­u­at­ed down Queen Street in Colch­ester Town Cen­tre, The Silk Road has now been oper­at­ing as a fam­i­ly run busi­ness since 2007. The venue now hosts four styl­ish bars, one of which spe­cialis­es in fresh fruit cock­tails. There is a heat­ed ter­race, over 25 flavours of shisha as well as a Pool & Snook­er Club. The Tree Room is a very spe­cial space offer­ing the sanc­tu­ary of a peace­ful, spa­cious stu­dio and three com­fort­able, light-filled ther­a­py rooms with plen­ty of room to social­ly dis­tance in these chal­leng­ing times.

A haven of tran­quil­li­ty set in the heart of Colchester’s town cen­tre, The Tree Room stu­dio is used to host reg­u­lar yoga, med­i­ta­tion, dance and move­ment class­es. Sit­u­at­ed on the main high street of Colch­ester the venue build­ing dates back to 1905 when it was the Grand Palace of Vari­eties some­thing of which is tried to kept alive today with a Grand Vari­ety of dif­fer­ent rooms of enter­tain­ment. Today the beau­ti­ful and orig­i­nal ornate ceil­ing and bal­conies are still on full view for all to admire and com­plete­ly enhanced by our state of the art light­ing and laser sys­tems a tru­ly amaz­ing site to see.
