Into Christmas

Twinkle, twinkle little star - there’s a lot to do this Christmas In Colchester!

Colchester is the place to get festive this Christmas!

Feel the festive buzz around Colchester created by a packed programme entertainment and events happening across the town.

Join us for the annual spectacular, which marks the beginning of Christmas in town on Sunday 1st December.

Santa will be joining the Mayor on stage in front of the Town Hall for the Big Light Switch-On at 5pm. Enjoy the backdrop of a festive carnival atmosphere of bands, choirs and street performances throughout the day.

Head into town for the festive celebrations, kicking off from 2.30pm on the High Street, with visitors able to browse all their favourite shops, from big name brands to quirky independents.

From 11am visitors to Culver Square will be able to enjoy festive performances throughout the day including Colchester Citadel Salvation Army, Colchester Military Wives, and the Rock Choir.

Special guests Elsa and Anna will be in the centre for shoppers to meet before they switch the lights and fill the square with snow at 5.00pm.

The festivities don’t stop there…

There’s an exciting community project taking place, which is giving school pupils from across Colchester and surrounding areas the chance to decorate stars and have them displayed around the town centre during the festive season.

Over 650 hand-painted stars will adorn the town and you can head to Colchester and seek out your school’s star throughout December.

You should also visit the town centre on every Saturday (7th, 14th and 21st December) leading up to Christmas Day for festive entertainment happening across the town centre.

Come to Colchester for a merry meet-up with your friends and families or get all your Christmas goodies from the heart of Colchester.
