Soapbox Rally

RACING THROUGH THE HEART OF COLCHESTER

The Colchester Soapbox Rally brings together creativity, competition and plenty of fun for a day of racing through the city centre. Teams are challenged to design and build their own non-motorised soapbox karts before taking to the course and putting their creations to the test. From clever engineering to some brilliantly imaginative designs, no two karts are quite the same. But it’s not just about being the fastest. The personality of the teams, their costumes and the creativity behind each kart are all part of what makes the Soapbox Rally such a great day out.

A day for the whole city

Thousands of spectators come into Colchester to line the route, cheer on the teams and enjoy the atmosphere throughout the day.

Free to attend and suitable for all ages, the rally gives families, friends and visitors another reason to spend time in the city centre, while showcasing the businesses, places and people that make Colchester unique.

Alongside the racing, visitors can explore the city’s shops, restaurants, cafés and attractions, helping to create a real buzz across the city centre.
