Wow, that was a pretty mad, bad traffic day for Colchester! From issues with the A120 and the A12, way outside the city, but then meaning soo much extra traffic was pushed through the city's main roads and side roads, and then some of the back routes and even smaller roads also got clogged up! Just crazy! Then add in on top of that the construction work at St Botolph's roundabout, and on East Hill, and then the heat, the relentless baking heat - it was a perfect storm of congestion and heat and noise and vehicle emissions! Frustrating for many many people it seemed! We think read about local train disruptions as well!
None of this was a problem for us though, thanks to the city's growing network of cycle routes, dedicated and shared, and our skilled riders' and dispatcher's local knowledge, we've done over 150 jobs today - collections, deliveries, flowers, books, medicine and @ridedott batteries (yes, thank gawd for the shared eBikes on a day like today) - when cars and vans are clogging up the road network, we can still get around, we can still keep on moving! We can still deliver! What a Monday, but for us, we love doing what we are doing, pushing forward, traveling more miles on 2 and 3 wheels, pedal and small battery powered.....
If ever there was an example of why we need more cycle routes and more people cycling and relying less on cars and vans to get themselves and their stuff moved around the city, today was that example!
