Firstsite
Lewis Gardens, High Street, Colchester CO1 1JH, UK
September 13, 2026
10:30 AM

Explore the materials, techniques and colour theory used to develop watercolour paintings and meet other watercolour lovers in this relaxed social session.

During each workshop session a different subject will be provided for you to paint.

Your tutor can also guide you to work on a painting you are already working on or a subject you have always wanted to paint.

Basic materials provided. Food and drink is also available for purchase throughout the session from our cafes. This workshop is suitable for ages 16+

Using a loose style, but considering the anatomy of the face, you will work on a number of paintings, gradually building layers of detail to suggest likeness.

You can bring a photographic printout of a face you would like to work from (A4). Images will also be provided.

About the artist – Justine Moss (she/her)

I am an artist, educator and collector of wonderful things.

I use drawing and watercolour to make explorative, detailed or implicative studies of subjects including clothes, nature and the figure and recently completed my practice-based PhD, drawing garments in motion on film.

I have lived in East Anglia for eighteen years, working in art education from Southend to Great Yarmouth. I run a longstanding and thriving life-drawing group, teach drawing at The Open University and lead community art workshops for adults.
