Out of Line: Banksy and the Art of Dissent will be on display at The Minories from Saturday 10th October 2026 to Sunday 28th February 2027, bringing original works by Banksy to the heart of Colchester.
Located at 74 High Street, Colchester, CO1 1UE, The Minories will host this major exhibition of street art and urban contemporary work, open from 10am to 4pm.
A Rare Chance to See Original Banksy Artwork in Colchester
This exhibition features 28 original artworks by Banksy, alongside significant pieces by more than twenty leading figures from the global street art and urban contemporary art movement.
Unlike many exhibitions that claim to celebrate Banksy’s work, every piece in Out of Line is either an original artwork or an artist-certified print, giving visitors the chance to see the real thing up close.
For art lovers, Banksy fans and anyone interested in modern culture, protest, humour and social commentary, this is a rare opportunity to experience some of the most recognisable and thought-provoking street art in the world without leaving Colchester.
Street Art, Protest and Powerful Ideas
Banksy’s work is known for challenging the way people think about politics, society, authority, consumer culture and everyday life. Often bold, witty and uncomfortable in all the right ways, his artwork has become part of a much bigger conversation about public space, freedom of expression and the power of art to make people stop, look and think.
Out of Line: Banksy and the Art of Dissent explores that spirit of rebellion and creativity, showing how street art has become one of the most powerful visual movements of modern times.
The exhibition places Banksy’s work alongside other influential artists from the urban contemporary art world, creating a wider look at how street art has moved from walls, streets and public spaces into galleries, collections and cultural history.
Supported by Leading Street Art Experts
The majority of works in the exhibition have been generously lent by John Brandler of Brandler Galleries, Brentwood, one of the UK’s foremost dealers in street art and urban contemporary work.
With original pieces, artist-certified prints and work from major names in the movement, the exhibition brings together a collection that feels both exciting and important for Colchester.
The exhibition is also supported by Colchester City Council and Sonia & Giles Coode-Adams.
