Into Late Wednesdays

Written by: Jess Walker

It's the most wonderful time of the year and late night shopping is back bigger and better with Late Wednesdays! Take a look through our blog to find out what's going on and what sort of great entertainment and family activities you can expect.

Walking Entertainment

We have three great hubs of entertainment alongside roaming entertainment throughout the town centre.

Hodman and Sally

A funny walkabout puppet act that will bring joy to all of the family. Hodman Dodmanott and Sally Forth are two tiny adventurers with a lot on their mind, and even more on their backs! Join this enchanting couple as they merrily amble through town and attempt Christmas Shopping and Carol Singing... if you can call that singing!

The Lost Elves

These fine fellows took a wrong turn at the North Pole! Riding along on Rudolf's back, they'll be roaming around Colchester looking for Santa. Can you help them find their way back?

PLUS The Grinch, Carol Signers and more will also be in town!

Shops open until late

Looking for that extra chance to get your Christmas shopping done? Well lucky you some of your favourite shops including, HMV, Fenwick, Paperchase, Waterstones, M&S and Primark plus so much more will have extended opening hours for you.

Free Parking

- Free Parking on Wednesdays after 3pm in all Colchester Borough Council car parks by using the MiPermit App.

- Or if you can't make it into town on Wednesday you can get free Park and Ride after midday on Saturdays throughout November and December through the MiPermit App.

Family Activities

- Christmas Trail

The Elves need to write a letter to Santa but have lost all of the things they need to write their letter. Can you help them find their stuff? Follow the clues around the town centre and search high and low to help the Elves out. Maps can be picked up from the Mercury Theatre, Hollytrees Museum, and North Pole Post Office from the end of November.

- North Pole Post Office

Need to find a way to entertain the Kids and feel the magic of Christmas? Why not drop into North Pole Post Office in Culver Square for some festive fun, free activities and more. Open from the 27th November 2021. Click here to find out more about the activities available and opening times.

- Write a Postcard to Santa

If you're in the North Pole Post Office or taking a trip to Hollytree's Museum why not drop in to write a Postcard to Santa. It's a great way to feel the festive magic and share it with your kids.
